What to do if Clivia leaves droop

1. Proper shade

Clivia prefers semi-shady environment and does not require much light. Long-term exposure to sunlight is not only not conducive to its growth, but also causes the leaves to lose water, causing them to droop. In this case, the best way is to move the plant to a semi-shaded place so that it can receive sufficient diffuse light and avoid direct sunlight. The daily sunlight time should not exceed 6-8 hours, and should not exceed two hours in hot seasons.

2. Lower the temperature

Clivia is not resistant to high temperatures. When the temperature exceeds 25°C, the growth of the plant will slow down and it will enter a semi-dormant state. If the high temperature continues, the plant will wilt and the leaves will droop. In this case, it needs to be cooled down appropriately. Generally, water is sprayed around to cool down by absorbing heat through water evaporation. At the same time, good ventilation should be maintained to prevent bacteria from breeding in a high temperature and high humidity environment.

3. Control watering

Clivia has fleshy roots and does not require much water. If it is watered too much, the roots will be flooded and unable to breathe, causing the leaves to droop. Be sure to control watering during daily maintenance. Usually water it when the soil is half dry. Do not water too much each time. It is best to keep the soil in the pot moist but not wet. If you water too much, you need to drain the water immediately and loosen the soil appropriately to accelerate water evaporation.

4. Dilution Fertilization

Clivia requires a certain amount of fertilizer to grow, but if concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer is used, it can easily cause root burns, affect the absorption of water and nutrients, and cause the leaves to droop. When applying fertilizer, be sure to dilute it sufficiently to avoid fertilizer damage. If too much fertilizer is used, you need to rinse the soil in the pot as soon as possible, or change the pot and soil directly, and check and trim the roots.
