Why does camellia drop old leaves?

Why does camellia drop old leaves?

1. Anthrax infection

Cause: The old leaves of camellia keep falling down, probably because they are infected with anthracnose, which mainly occurs on mature or old leaves. When the disease first occurs, there are irregular spots on the leaves, black dots on the spots, and raised lines on the edges. The disease will gradually spread and cause the leaves to fall.

Solution: Remove the dead old leaves completely, and also remove the dead branches and leaves nearby. Strengthen cultivation management and enhance disease resistance. When the disease first occurs, spray mancozeb, methyl thiophanate, etc.

2. Poor ventilation

Reason: If the ventilation is not good, the indoor air quality will deteriorate, and the camellia will be in a stuffy environment, which will cause the leaves to fall.

Solution: When breeding, maintain good ventilation and fresh air.

3. Root rot

Reason: Improper application of water and fertilizer will cause root problems. Once the roots rot, the absorption and transportation functions are affected, causing growth problems. Old leaves also have no water and fertilizer to grow, and they will fall off in the long run.

Solution: Apply water and fertilizer correctly, maintain a moderate amount of water, pay attention to the concentration of fertilizer, and do not apply raw fertilizer.

4. Environmental Change

Reason: The camellia was suddenly moved to a new location, and the surrounding environment changed, causing the camellia to be unable to adapt and some old leaves to fall off.

Solution: Move the camellia to a semi-shaded place and spray it with water appropriately. It will recover after a period of time.
