History and Culture of the Sausage Tree

history

The sausage tree is native to South Asia and is now distributed in India, Sri Lanka, China and other places. It is said that as early as the Tang Dynasty, there were descriptions of sausage trees in ancient Chinese documents. In "Youyang Zazu", it is called Persian soapberry. In addition, there is a poem in my country that specifically describes the sausage tree. The poem goes like this: "Grandma went for a walk, staggering and unable to walk fast. She took a break under a roadside tree, took a breath and drank some water. The wind blew down golden rain, as if she was in a fairyland. Suddenly, she saw a black stick on the ground, and the grandma picked it up to use as a walking stick, which made her laugh with joy! Grandma is so happy, grandma is so happy!"

culture

The flowering period of sausage flower is in May. This time of year attracts many people to come and watch. The yellow flowers on the tree sway in the wind, and the petals fall in the wind. It looks like a fairyland. For this reason, sausage flower is also known as golden rain.

In my country's Qing Dynasty, yellow is a symbol of dignity and power. The dragon robes of ancient Chinese emperors were all yellow. Perhaps it is because the yellow petals of the sausage flower are beautiful and magnificent that the sausage flower is regarded as the national flower of Thailand, and the yellow petals are regarded as the symbol of the Thai royal family. At the World Garden Expo held in 2006, the Chiang Mai Agricultural Research Center named the sausage tree the World Garden Expo 2549. It should be noted that Chongsong Ratchaburi was the King Bhumibol of Thailand, which shows the status of the sausage tree in Thailand.

In addition to its important position in Thailand, the sausage flower is also noble in India. The Indian state of Kerala has designated the jasmine as their provincial flower and it is also their ceremonial flower during the New Year.
