What is the reason for camellia buds to fall off?

What is the reason for camellia buds to fall off?

1. Soil Dryness

Reason: If the camellia is growing well but some flower buds are falling off, it is because the soil is dry.

Solution: Since the soil is dry, it can naturally be solved by watering. Many people are accustomed to waiting until the soil is dry and cracked before watering, but this is not applicable to camellia. The soil must be kept moist at all times for good growth, so you can water it once the soil is slightly dry. At the same time, do not water it too much. Although it likes moisture, it is afraid of waterlogging.

2. Malnutrition

Cause: If the leaves turn yellow and the plant looks listless, it is probably caused by lack of nutrition.

Solution: Insufficient nutrition means insufficient fertilizer, so you need to apply more fertilizer, but not concentrated fertilizer. It is better to use diluted liquid fertilizer. If planted in the north, you can use alum fertilizer water, which can also improve the problem of soil alkalinization. Also, use less or no nitrogen fertilizer, as it can cause the plant to grow too tall and delay flowering.

3. Excessive fertilization

Reason: Excessive fertilization can cause root burns, so no matter how much nutrients there are, they cannot reach the branches, leaves and flower buds, and the buds will naturally fall off.

Solution: The amount of fertilizer applied must be strictly controlled, especially for organic fertilizer, which needs to be diluted before use. Too much dilution will have little effect, but too much concentration of fertilizer will be disastrous. If the entire plant begins to wilt, it means that the fertilizer has burned the roots. It is time to check it and cut off the rotten roots in time to avoid bacterial infection and disease.
