How to remedy the problem of banyan tree losing leaves

How to remedy the problem of banyan tree losing leaves

1. Proper shade

Reason: Although banyan trees like sunlight, long-term exposure to the sun is not conducive to their growth and can easily cause leaves to fall off.

Solution: Leaf drop caused by overexposure mostly occurs in summer, and the leaves are still green. At this time, the bonsai needs to be properly shaded to avoid prolonged exposure to light. At the same time, ventilation and cooling should be carried out, which can also improve the situation of leaf falling.

2. Don’t water unless the water is dry

Cause: Leaf drop caused by water problems is quite common. Neither overwatering nor underwatering is appropriate, so the remedial measures are also different.

Solution: Check the soil dryness and wetness first. If the soil is too dry and the leaves fall off when touched, it may be due to lack of water. At this time, you need to add water to the potted plants until the soil surface is moist. If there is accumulated water, it must be drained. If the soil is moist and a lot of leaves fall off, it is possible that the previous accumulation of water has caused root rot. At this time, you should check the roots as soon as possible, treat the rotten roots, and then change the soil and replant. In addition, pay attention to the principles of watering banyan trees, and do not water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do. The soil can be moist but not waterlogged, and a little dry is fine.

3. Change pots and soil

Cause: Excessive fertilization can cause root burns, leading to leaf fall and even plant death.

Solution: Immediate watering is generally not recommended because if there is still a lot of fertilizer remaining, watering will continue to cause damage to the roots. Therefore, the pot and soil should be changed as soon as possible. Choose soil with good ventilation and a certain amount of humus. Also check the condition of the roots and prune appropriately. Water in time after planting and observe the situation.

4. Move less

Reason: Frequent moving of banyan trees is sometimes not a good thing, as environmental changes may cause leaves to fall.

Solution: Place the potted plant in a shaded and ventilated place, reduce its movement, and ensure that it can receive a certain amount of light.
