Why do the buds of anthurium turn black?

Why do the buds of anthurium turn black?

1. Metabolism

Reason: When it grows to a certain length, its flower buds will gradually turn black, usually because it blooms for too long.

Solution: This situation is generally normal metabolism, not a disease, and will not harm the plant, so we don’t need to worry too much. Just wait patiently, and its flower buds will slowly return to normal.

2. Reduce watering

Reason: When growing it, the substrate used is usually peat soil, which has a very strong water retention capacity, but it is not easy to absorb water after the soil is dry. Therefore, if you water it too much, it is easy for water to accumulate in the pot. At this time, the roots will be soaked in the accumulated water for a long time and will begin to rot. It will be unable to continue to supply nutrients to the flower buds, so the flower buds will slowly turn black.

Solution: At this time, you need to control watering. When watering, you should water when the substrate is slightly moist. Do not water when the soil is completely dry or has water stains. We can use the peat soil on the surface as a watering signal and continue watering as soon as it is dry. This will allow it to grow better.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Reason: During its growth process, in order to make it grow faster, we will constantly fertilize it or use high-concentration fertilizers. This will easily burn the roots and cause the roots to rot. Over time, the flower buds will also be affected and slowly begin to turn black.

Solution: At this time, you can dilute it with water and control the fertilization.
