Hydroponics does not take root and dies in a few days

Whether it is a hydroponic flower you just bought home, or a flower you just threw into the water, if it has not taken root within a week, it is in danger. The flower will become more and more yellow and die soon!

Solution: trim off the bottom and re-root

Trim the roots of the flowers, cut off 1-2 cm of small flowers such as lucky bamboo with an oblique knife, and then soak them in water to root again; for plants that are prone to rot, such as the money tree, the necrotic part must be completely cut off, and then use water vapor to induce the roots, as soaking them directly in water will easily cause them to rot again.

If you want to increase the rooting rate, you can add an aspirin pill to the water. It is best to crush it and stir it well. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, which can stimulate rooting.

There is no nutrition in the water, so the yellow leaves don't grow.

The nutrients in hydroponics are not as much as those in soil. Think about it: how can the plants keep growing without turning yellow if they are only grown in plain water?

Solution: Add nails and nutrient solution

It is best to let the water used for hydroponics settle for half a day before use to reduce the chlorine in the tap water. Put a few rusty iron nails in the water to add some trace elements to the flowers, which can reduce the problem of yellow leaves.

Of course, flower lovers can also drip nutrient solution twice a month, 2-3 drops each time is enough, not too much.

Too many roots, severe lack of oxygen

Some flower lovers don't take care of their hydroponic flowers after they take root, thinking that the more roots the better. However, they don't know that roots also need to breathe. All the roots are entangled at the bottom of the bottle, and the flowers lacking oxygen look "pale", and their color turns yellow and lighter.

Solution: Cut off the roots and yellow leaves

Smooth the roots and prepare for pruning after they are in order. It is best to disinfect the scissors or tools used for pruning (boiling water, alcohol or carbendazim will do).

The roots should be trimmed evenly, leaving 3-5 cm long. After cutting, it is best to soak the wound in a solution of carbendazim for half an hour for disinfection to avoid wound infection. Pick off all the yellow leaves to reduce nutrient consumption, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to continue hydroponics.

Crowded leaves and lack of light

Do you think that hydroponic flowers prefer shade and are better off not seeing the sun? In fact, you are half right. It is best not to expose hydroponic flowers to direct sunlight, but without sufficient light, the leaves will easily turn yellow. If the leaves are too crowded, the leaves that are blocked underneath will easily turn yellow.

Solution: Remove the yellow leaves and move to a place with good light

It is generally difficult for yellow leaves to turn green again after being hydroponically cultivated, so it is best to pick them off in time to avoid shading each other and to preserve nutrients for regrowth of green leaves.

It is best to place hydroponic flowers in a well-lit place at home, as long as they are not exposed to direct sunlight. If placed in a dark place, even if it does not die, it will become "sallow and thin", which is not conducive to the healthy growth of the flower.

It breeds bugs and attracts bugs. It's so annoying.

Many flower lovers just keep adding water after hydroponics and are too lazy to clean the hydroponic bottles, so insect eggs are easily bred. The insect eggs will later develop into mosquitoes and small black flies, which are very difficult to clean!

Solution 1: Change water in time and clean it monthly

In the early stage of hydroponics, it is best to change the water every 3-5 days. Each time, let the tap water dry for half a day before use. After the roots are stable, you can change or add water every 1-2 weeks. Don't be lazy, flower lovers, it's best to clean the hydroponic bottle every month~

Solution 2: Put a fish in the hydroponic container

After hydroponics, the root system becomes more and more, and it becomes a hassle to clean it up. Fortunately, there is a wonderful solution to this problem: raise a fish!

The small fish will eat up all the dirt in the water, including insect eggs, and their excrement can also be used as fertilizer for flowers, thus achieving the best of both worlds. Some flower lovers are worried that there is not enough space. Huahua thinks that as long as our container is of the right size, we can grow 1-2 small ones!
