What to do if hyacinth leaves wilt

What to do if hyacinth leaves wilt

1. Adjust the temperature

Reason: Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the growth of the plant. When the temperature is too high, above 35°C, it will inhibit the differentiation of flower buds; when the temperature is too low, the flower buds will be damaged and the leaves will turn yellow or wilt.

Solution: During the flowering period, it is best to place the plant indoors at 15-18℃. During the growth period, the suitable temperature for flower bud differentiation is around 25℃. After the flowering period, the processed bulbs can be wrapped in newspaper and refrigerated. Be careful not to place them in the freezer.

2. Suitable lighting

Reason: Hyacinth likes the sun and needs sufficient light when growing. The light intensity should be above 5000Lx. If the light is too weak, the plant will be short, the flower buds will be thin, and the leaves will turn yellow and wilt. If the light is too strong, it will burn the leaves, causing the leaves to wilt.

Solution: During the hot noons in summer, you can shade it to prevent burns. At other times, place it in a sunny place such as a balcony. If you place it in a cool place indoors, you can use an incandescent lamp at about 1m to provide supplementary light.

3. Trim and save

Cause: After the plant has passed its flowering period, the flowers begin to wither and the leaves begin to wilt, turn yellow and fall off. These are normal phenomena in the growth process.

Solution: After the flowering period, if you do not want it to bloom again, you can simply discard the plant and buy a new one; if you want it to bloom again, you can trim off the flower stems and leaves of the plant, place it in a cool and ventilated place, and put it back in the pot after it dries in winter.

<<:  Summer flowers dry up quickly when exposed to the sun. Learn this trick and their leaves will immediately become juicy!

>>:  Throw some stuff into the water, and the flower roots will be as strong as if they were sprayed with pesticides, and all the yellow leaves and mosquitoes will disappear!
