Chinese cabbage has a long history of cultivation in China. Compared with other crops, it has the advantages of short growth period, high yield, easy cultivation and good benefits. Therefore, Chinese cabbage is widely grown in rural areas of my country. So how many kilograms does Chinese cabbage generally yield per mu? Let’s learn more about it below. What is the average yield of Chinese cabbage per mu? The per-acre yield of Chinese cabbage is generally between 2,500 and 5,000 kilograms, and can exceed 10,000 kilograms under high-yield management. The factors that affect the per-acre yield of Chinese cabbage include: variety, soil conditions, climatic conditions, and planting management level, so its specific per-acre yield depends on the actual planting situation. How to grow cabbage to get high yield? 1. Land preparation and fertilization Choose fertile, well-drained sandy loam for growing Chinese cabbage. Before sowing, the soil should be deeply plowed and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. Generally, 2500-3500 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer plus 15 kg of urea, 15 kg of diammonium phosphate, and 15 kg of potassium sulfate are applied per mu. 2. Seed treatment Select seeds carefully before sowing and eliminate the blighted, damaged and small seeds. The seeds can be soaked in warm water at 50-60°C for 2 hours. After taking them out, they can be mixed with 1% concentration of 50% thiram and 90% ethylene phosphazene aluminum in a 1:1 ratio or 0.3% of the seed weight of 25% metalaxyl wettable powder to prevent and control diseases. 3. Sowing method Three sowing methods can be adopted: row sowing, hole sowing and machine sowing. Generally, the amount of seeds used per mu of land is about 0.5 kg. If you are raising seedlings and transplanting, you can first sow the seeds on the hole tray, with 1 seed per hole. 4. Planting at the right time When the seedlings grow to have 5-6 true leaves, they can be transplanted and planted. Choose a sunny afternoon for transplanting, and try to avoid the strong midday sun. 5. Field management (1) Intertillage: During the growth of Chinese cabbage, intertillage and weeding should be carried out in a timely manner to loosen the soil and improve soil permeability. (2) Watering: Chinese cabbage requires sufficient water during its growth period, especially during the heading stage. The soil should be kept moist to promote firm heading. (3) Fertilization: Apply topdressing according to the growth stage of the cabbage. Top dressing is generally carried out in four times, namely, the seedling stage, after transplanting, the rosette stage, and the heading stage. Apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in a timely manner, and spray fertilizer on the leaves. 6. Pest and disease control Common diseases and pests of Chinese cabbage include cabbage loopers, maggots, aphids, damping-off disease, sudden wilt disease, and downy mildew. It can be controlled through a combination of physical, biological and chemical methods. In addition, if the plant shows obvious symptoms, the diseased remains should be removed and buried or burned in a timely manner according to the disease situation to reduce the source of transmission. To sum up, the per-acre yield of Chinese cabbage varies depending on many factors, but generally it is between 2,500 kg and 5,000 kg. However, through scientific planting techniques and management models, the per-acre yield and quality of Chinese cabbage can be significantly improved.
