What to do when camellia is frozen

What to do when camellia is frozen

1. The main symptoms of cold

In winter, if we ignore it all the time, frostbite is likely to occur. The specific symptoms are easy to observe. At first, the leaves of the plant will appear wilted, then they will slowly curl up and then become dry, but they will not fall off. If this happens, it is very likely that it cannot be recovered. At this time, you need to observe the condition of its top buds. If they are still upright and not soft, then there is still hope for recovery. Below is the specific processing method.

2. Specific steps

(1) First, cover the entire plant with a plastic bag, making sure to cover the bottom of the pot as well. Place it in a shaded area, taking care not to let too much light shine on it.

(2) Water treatment is very important. In general, it is better to keep it dry. If you notice that the soil in the pot is very dry, you can water it appropriately. If it's not dry, don't water it. Otherwise, too much water may cause the plant to die prematurely.

(3) After more than a month of special care, around April of the second year, if you observe that the aging leaves begin to fall off and the terminal buds begin to sprout, then there is a possibility of recovery.

(4) At this time, we should not take it lightly. It should still be bagged and left in its original place. The moisture is the same as before, keep it dry, remember not to make it too wet.

(5) Around May or June, when new leaves have grown, the plastic bag can be removed. However, it should continue to be placed in the shade. With this kind of maintenance, it will probably return to normal by the rainy season.
