Cultivation methods and precautions of large-leaf umbrella

Cultivation methods and precautions of large-leaf umbrella

1. Soil

It prefers sandy soil with good drainage and containing organic matter to grow. It can be made into planting soil by mixing garden soil, fine sand and leaf mold. In addition, it is best to mix an appropriate amount of bone meal into the soil to supplement nutrients before planting.

2. Watering

It is very sensitive to water and cannot be too dry or have water accumulation, otherwise it will cause leaves to fall and affect growth. When watering, it is best not to water unless the soil is dry. Once you water, make sure to water thoroughly. When the temperature drops in autumn and the temperature drops in winter, you need to control the watering. Keeping it slightly dry is more conducive to wintering.

3. Temperature

During the breeding period, a temperature environment between 20 and 30 degrees should be provided. High temperature is more conducive to growth, but be careful not to expose it to strong light for a long time. Remember to water it more in summer. It has poor cold resistance, so pay attention to keeping warm and controlling the temperature in time in winter. It should not be kept at a low temperature of 5 degrees, otherwise it will get frostbite.

4. Fertilization

If you want to make its leaves greener and more shiny, you must apply fertilizer in time and in appropriate amounts. During the growing season, nitrogen fertilizer is usually applied once every half a month. After autumn, the amount and frequency of fertilizer application should be reduced, and the fertilizer should be replaced with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Do not apply fertilizer after winter to avoid fertilizer damage.

5. Notes

During the breeding period, you should pay attention to changing the pot once every one or two years, using a larger pot and new soil, so that there will be more space and nutrients, which is more conducive to growth. In addition, when repotting, the root system should be trimmed, and old and bad roots should be cut off to make it grow stronger.
