What to do if the leaves of lucky bamboo turn black

What to do if the leaves of lucky bamboo turn black

1. Water quality issues

(1) Cause: The most likely reason for the leaves turning black is that there is something wrong with the water used. Specifically, if the water is alkaline, it may affect its absorption of nutrients and cause its leaves to appear black.

(2) Solution: It is best to water the plants with clean water, and you can also mix some aqueous solution of compound fertilizer into it.

2. Disease problems

(1) Cause: There is a disease that can cause the leaves of plants to turn black, called "brown spot disease" or "black spot disease." It is caused by a fungus and is relatively common. Generally speaking, the blackening phenomenon will start from the lower leaves. At the beginning of the disease, some small dark brown spots will appear on the leaf surface. As the disease progresses, these spots will connect into one large mass and become darker in color. This disease can occur throughout the year, but is most serious and harmful in summer.

(2) Solution: First, we need to cut off the diseased leaves and collect them for treatment. In addition, you can spray some thiophanate-methyl solution. Also, when the temperature and humidity are high, try not to use flower fertilizers containing N elements. At this time, it is best to apply certain phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

3. Watering problem

(1) Cause: This phenomenon may also occur if the plant is watered excessively. The roots will be affected first and will rot. Then, it will appear on the leaves, which may turn black.

(2) Solution: Adjust watering. Wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering. If it is not dry yet, you don’t need to water it for the time being. In addition, when watering, try not to splash on the leaves.
