What to do if the bamboo begonia does not bloom

What to do if the bamboo begonia does not bloom

1. Improper planting management

Bamboo Begonia is a plant with shallow roots. It prefers semi-shaded, moist and warm places. It does not like cold and cannot be exposed to the sun. The best temperature is between 15° and 25°. So you have to see if it is caused by these reasons. It is relatively drought-resistant, but afraid of waterlogging, so we have to see if it is watered too much. If so, we need to drain and change the soil.

2. Improper fertilization

Because fertilizer is a necessary element for plant growth, you should apply fertilizer when the soil in the pot is dry. After applying fertilizer, water it so that the plant can absorb it better. Do not use a large amount of fertilizer when the stems are not growing particularly vigorously or when repotting. If you accidentally give too much, you need to change the soil. In spring, it is generally sufficient to apply fertilizer once every half a month or so. When the temperature is high in the summer, the plants will not grow, so the amount of fertilizer should be reduced. Do not add fertilizer when it is blooming and in winter.

3. Light causes

Bamboo Begonia likes shade and is afraid of direct sunlight, so it is more suitable to grow on the balcony all year round. It also needs enough sunlight in spring, autumn and winter. It should not be exposed to direct strong sunlight in the summer. Too much sunlight will make the leaves of the entire plant turn yellow, and its growth will begin to become slower, so it will not bloom.

4. No timely pruning

When it grows, we should strengthen the pruning of the plant, so that its appearance will become beautiful. Especially for plants that have grown for many years, they cannot be allowed to grow too tall, so we should prune them in time when changing pots in spring. This will help the plants grow new branches and bloom more beautiful flowers.

5. Caused by pests and diseases

We can check whether the bamboo begonia is infested with insects, because if pests harm it, it will also prevent the growth of the plant and it will not be easy to bloom, so we should spray some pesticides appropriately to prevent the occurrence of diseases, which will help it bloom well.
