Is it better to grow figs in water or soil?

Most figs are grown in soil. Although they can also be grown hydroponically, the survival rate is relatively low. It is not easy to control the humidity and temperature of the environment in hydroponics. Therefore, for figs, hydroponics is more recommended.

Methods and precautions for hydroponic figs

1. Branch processing

The time for hydroponic cuttings of figs is usually from March to April in spring. The air humidity and temperature at this time are very suitable for the rooting conditions of figs. Choose thick branches without diseases and insect pests, and then soak the cut ends of the branches in rooting water or slightly diluted nutrient solution for about 5 minutes, which can make it germinate faster in the water.

2. Rooting by cuttings

Use tools to fix the processed branches in a container filled with pure water. It is best to use a transparent container to facilitate observation of root growth. The fixed position should be slightly close to the bottle mouth. Do not let the bottom of the branch be too close to the bottom of the bottle, which is not conducive to rooting.

Methods and precautions for growing figs in soil

1. Soil : Figs have many roots, so we usually use larger ceramic pots to plant them. Common garden soil can be used to grow figs. When planting, you can add some manure to ensure adequate nutrition for the figs.

2. Watering : Watering potted figs can be done in spring when the soil feels dry. In summer, water thoroughly, once in the morning and once in the evening, to keep the soil moist. If the amount of water is too little, the leaves will easily rot and affect growth. After two months, you can apply a small amount of fertilizer. When the pineapple grows bigger, you can change to a larger pot for cultivation.
