What to do if the leaves of succulent plants become soft

What to do if the leaves of succulent plants become soft

Frostbite

Slight frostbite: leaves become hydrated and shrink, become transparent, or even gray.

Severe frostbite: The whole plant shows signs of frostbite, with obvious symptoms of hydration, shrinkage, transparency, and even blackening.

Maintenance: Move the succulent to a warm place (above 10℃), remove the frostbitten leaves, apply some carbendazim to the wounds for sterilization, and be careful not to water or expose to direct sunlight.

Observe for a period of time. If the stem and some leaves are normal, the succulent will slowly recover. If the neck is frostbitten but the top is intact, you can cut off the head and re-graft.

Recommended meats that are more resistant to freezing:

Huangli, purple peony, Guanyin lotus, Wa Song, Xiu Nu, Zi Chi Lian Hua, coral beads, Qing Suo Long Ruo Lu, Ji Qiuli, Phoenix, red Zhilian, striped twelve volumes, tower pine...

Lack of water

If you don't water the plant for a long time and the soil is too dry, the leaves of the plant will become soft and wrinkled, and the roots will be damaged.

When watering, be sure to water thoroughly.

Lots of water

Some novice succulent growers are so fond of them that they cannot control themselves and water them frequently, causing the succulents to have too much water and the leaves to fall off at the slightest touch.

Do not water succulents frequently. Generally, water them only when they are completely dry. When you do, water them thoroughly. Be careful not to let water accumulate in the pot.

Lack of light

Long-term lack of light can also cause the leaves of succulents to become soft and wilted, and fall off at the slightest touch.

Let the succulents get sun exposure in time, but be careful not to overexposure to the sun. Some succulents need proper shade in summer.

Root rot

Problems with the root system and lack of nutrition can also cause the leaves of succulents to wilt and fall off. At this time, you need to carefully pull up the succulent and check the condition of the roots.

If the roots are rotten, you need to use a sterilized knife to clean the damaged roots, apply some carbendazim to the wound, and dry the wound.

Black Rot

After one night, I found that the succulent had lost a lot of leaves. The leaves fell off when touched, and the fallen leaves showed signs of turning into water, which is generally a sign of black rot.

Please note that black rot is contagious. If you find black rot leaves, be sure to clean them up immediately and apply carbendazim to the wounds to disinfect and sterilize.

airtight

If the soil is too dense or the potting soil is not breathable, it will also be reflected on the leaves of the succulents.

Check whether the soil is clumping and make sure to change the soil and pot in time.

Normal metabolism

The normal metabolism of succulents consumes nutrients from the leaves, causing the bottom leaves of the succulents to become soft and dry. This is a normal phenomenon. Dry leaves should be removed promptly to avoid rotting and attracting insects.

As long as you figure out these issues, you don't have to worry about the leaves of succulents becoming soft and wilted or falling off at the touch.

If flower lovers take good care of them, they will definitely be able to grow succulents well and beautifully!
