How to identify Magnolia arborescens

1. Blades

Magnolia is a small tree, about 6-10 meters tall. Its leaves are papery, obovate in shape, about 6-15 cm long and 4-7.5 cm wide. There are 7-9 lateral veins on each side, and the reticulate veins on both sides are raised when dry. The petiole is pubescent and about 1-1.5 cm long.

2. Flowers

The flower buds of Magnolia grandiflora are oval in shape. The flowers open before the leaves, and the color changes from light red to dark red. There are 6-9 tepals. The flowering period is from February to March every year.

3. Fruit

The fruit of Magnolia dioica is an aggregate fruit about 8 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. The follicles are oval or obovate, black when mature, with white lenticels. The seeds are dark brown, broadly obovate or obovate in shape, and the fruiting period is from September to October each year.
