Disease and Pest Control of Yellow Flowering Crane Orchid

Disease and Pest Control of Yellow Flowering Crane Orchid

Sclerotium rolfsii

This disease is not serious when it first appears, just the bottom of the leaves will be covered with white filaments. But it will become more and more serious, and it is very likely to cause all the roots and rhizomes to rot. This disease is very common in seasons with more rain, so you should pay more attention during the rainy season. Once the corresponding symptoms are found, first scrape off the infected potting soil, then sprinkle disinfectant and cover it. Of course, this can only treat surface symptoms. If you want to cure it, it is best to move the plant to a ventilated and lighted location. If the plant is seriously infected, it must be moved out and destroyed.

Sheath Rust

This disease often appears on the surface or back of the leaves, and may also appear on the stems. Small bags appear on the stems, containing red or even black powdery substances. This disease will not cause serious harm to the plant, but it will greatly affect its growth, so after cutting off the diseased branches and leaves, you should also use an appropriate amount of pesticide to spray.

anthrax

This disease is relatively common in orchids, and is more serious when the temperature and rainfall increase. The spots are brown at first, then they gradually expand and increase in number, and later many black spots appear. If the situation is more serious, the entire plant will die. After discovering this disease, immediately change the surrounding environment, then spray it with medicine once a week, and it will basically get better after about two months.

Scale insects

This is a relatively common pest, and it tends to appear when the temperature rises and the rainfall increases. The best time for prevention and control is during the incubation period. If there are not many small insects, you can choose to brush them off directly. If the condition is serious, you will also need to spray medicine, and spray it at regular intervals and in fixed quantities.
