Onion pest control methods

Onion pest control methods

Downy Mildew

This disease is one of the most common diseases that causes great harm to the growth and yield of onions, mainly occurring in spring and autumn. It mainly manifests itself on the leaves and pedicels of the plant. If the leaves are damaged, they will turn yellow, become twisted and thickened, and will also develop yellow or yellow-white spots. The pedicels will have oval or egg-shaped spots. In severe cases, the entire plant will wither and die. The prevention and control method is to choose a better land ratio, remove weeds in the field in time, and apply fertilizer reasonably for prevention. If the disease occurs, you can spray it with 600 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder, usually once every 7 to 10 days, 3 to 4 times will be enough.

Onion Thrips

This is a pest that is very harmful to green onions, and it is also very harmful to onions, leeks, garlic, etc. This type of pest generally occurs everywhere. This pest will damage the plant's young shoots, young leaves and heart leaves. At first, there will be very small spots on the outer skin of the tender shoots, and later silvery-white strip-shaped spots will appear in patches, which will have a very bad impact on the growth and quality of the onions. The specific prevention and control method is to clean up the diseased leaves and branches after the previous crops are harvested. Pay attention to the right amount of water and fertilizer to improve the plant's disease resistance. Once the disease occurs, it can be controlled with 1000 times diluted 80% DDT emulsifiable concentrate.

Purpura

To prevent and control this disease, it is best to implement crop rotation in the field, select suitable seeds with certain disease resistance according to the environment, disinfect the seeds with warm water before sowing, and do a good job of water and fertilizer management. Spray pesticides in time to prevent diseases and pests.
