Diseases and control of ageratum

Rust

The disease is often prone to occur under conditions of poor management, poor ventilation and light conditions, compacted soil, lack of fertilizer, excessive nitrogen fertilizer, and humidity.

Prevention and control methods: In early spring, before the ageratum sprouts, you can spray 3-4 degrees Baume lime sulfur mixture. During the disease period, it is necessary to spray 50% carboxin wettable powder diluted 2000 times.

powdery mildew

The disease mainly harms the leaves and stems of Ageratum. The symptoms are white powdery spots on the affected leaves, which then gradually connect into patches, just like white frost. In severe cases, the leaves of the ageratum become deformed and stop growing, eventually causing the plant to wither. The prevention and treatment methods are as follows:

1. Ensure good ventilation and light transmission in daily management and control reasonable soil humidity;

2. Remove and burn early diseased leaves to reduce infection sources;

3. Before the disease occurs, you can spray 1000 times diluted 50% mancozeb, or 0.2-0.5% lime sulfur mixture and other agents once every week, and spray continuously for about 4-5 times.

Botrytis cinerea

The disease mainly harms the leaves, stems, flowers and other parts of thistle. Symptoms include brown spots on the edges of diseased leaves, slightly wavy leaf surfaces, and petioles and pedicels that begin to soften before the outer skin rots. When the flowers are damaged, it affects the maturity of the seeds.

Prevention and control methods: In the early stage of the disease, you can spray 0.3-0.5 degree Baume lime sulfur mixture, or agents such as mancozeb or carbendazim for prevention and control.

Ageratum pests and their control

The main pests of ageratum are whiteflies and fall armyworms, which should be controlled by spraying 90% dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane in time to achieve better results.
