Difference between cucumber and melon

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of the cucumber are alternate, oval or kidney-shaped, and the width is approximately equal to the length.

The petiole of cucumber is slightly thick and covered with rough and hard hairs, about 10 to 16 cm long. The leaves are broadly ovate-cordate, membranous, about 7 to 20 cm long and wide, and both sides of the leaves are rough and covered with hard hairs. The leaves have 3 to 5 angles or lobes, the lobes are triangular, serrated, acute or semi-acute at the apex, and semicircular at the base.

2. Flower Differences

The flowers of the cucumber flower are solitary or in faint clusters, and are yellow in color.

Cucumber flowers grow in clusters in the leaf axils. The corolla is yellow-white, about 2 cm long, and the corolla lobes are oblong-lanceolate.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruit of the cucumber is fleshy, oblong or oval, with a smooth skin with longitudinal lines. The skin is green-white or light green, and the flesh is white or light green. The flesh is juicy and crisp.

Cucumber fruits are oblong, 10 to 30 cm long, yellow-green in color, with an uneven surface and thorny, warty protrusions.
