How long is the growing cycle of lentils?

Introduction to Lentil Growth

Lentils are suitable for planting in frost-free areas in the south. They are mainly produced in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Yunnan, Sichuan and other places in China.

Lentil growth cycle

Growth characteristics of lentils: Lentils prefer warm and humid climates, are not cold-resistant, and are easily frostbitten. The soil must be kept moist during the seedling stage, and drought is required during the flowering period. High humidity in the air and soil will cause the flowers to fall off. They like to be planted on fertile, well-drained sandy soil.

The growth cycle of lentils is relatively long, about seven or eight months.

Lentil growth rate

Growth process: Choose good quality seeds and plant them in loose, fertile soil. The soil needs to be disinfected in advance and base fertilizer can be applied. After planting, water thoroughly once. If sown in early February, it can be harvested in mid-April.

It takes about 7-8 months for lentils to mature from sowing, which is a long time.

Lentil growth cycle management

Under reasonable planting management, the yield of one acre of lentils is about one thousand kilograms.

Temperature management: The most suitable temperature for lentil growth is between 22 and 23 degrees, and its sowing time mainly depends on the temperature.

Fertilization management:

1. Base fertilizer. Lentils like fertilizer and need sufficient nutritional support during the growth period. Before sowing, the land should be prepared and base fertilizer should be applied. The base fertilizer should be mainly organic fertilizer or farmyard manure.

2. Seedling fertilizer: Generally, after applying enough base fertilizer, no fertilizer is needed before the flowering period.

3. Flower and pod fertilizer: During the flowering and pod period, the need for water and fertilizer is greater, so an appropriate amount of boiling is required. At this time, fertilization is generally combined with watering.
