How to grow Anthurium so that it blooms more vigorously?

Anthurium is a popular plant in the flower market, famous for its bright red flowers and great ornamental value. When it blooms, the bright red flowers are particularly eye-catching and beautiful. Many people are attracted by the charming colors of anthuriums when they see them in the flower market, and choose to buy one without hesitation and take it home. However, it is not so easy to grow it well. Let’s take a look at how to grow Anthurium so that it blooms more vigorously.

1. Soil preparation

Under the alkaline soil and water conditions in the north, special attention should be paid to the pH value of the soil. Once the soil becomes alkaline, the growth of anthurium will be affected, and the leaves and flower stalks will become short. In order to maintain the acidity of the soil, it is recommended to mix river sand, pine needles and peat soil in a ratio of 1:1:1 to prepare the soil. This not only ensures the acidity but also provides the necessary nutrients. At the same time, the soil has very good air permeability and water permeability.

2. Moisture

In terms of watering, the principle of watering anthurium is "water when dry and water when wet", that is, wait until the soil surface is dry before watering thoroughly. This loose and breathable soil configuration can ensure that the roots of anthurium always have sufficient water and avoid dry roots and leaves. If the water quality in the north is alkaline, you can add an appropriate amount of rice vinegar to the water every month to adjust the pH value of the water, which is more beneficial to the growth of Anthurium.

3. Lighting conditions

Light is another key factor in anthurium care. Anthurium prefers a semi-shaded environment, and strong direct sunlight can cause sunburn on the leaves. Therefore, when caring for the anthurium at home, it should be placed in a place with sufficient scattered light, or in a place with dim indoor light, and only 1-2 hours of light per day will be required. In addition, anthurium requires higher air humidity, which can be increased by spraying the leaves 1-2 times a day while ensuring good ventilation.

4. Reasonable fertilization

In terms of fertilization, anthurium needs to continuously grow new leaves and flower buds, so the fertilizer should contain sufficient phosphorus and potassium, while not lacking other elements. If there is no special fertilizer, you can sprinkle some multi-element slow-release fertilizer on the surface of the potting soil, and add fermented sheep manure to the bottom as base fertilizer when preparing the soil. When watering, choose multi-element water-soluble fertilizer to ensure that the anthurium will not have yellow leaves or stunted seedlings due to lack of certain elements.

In short, by preparing acidic soil, placing it in a well-ventilated place, watering it at the right time, fertilizing it reasonably, and maintaining a suitable temperature, you can ensure that the anthurium will continue to grow new leaves and bloom flowers.
