Michelia pest control methods

Pests and diseases of Michelia: scale insects

Michelia often suffers from scale insect damage. The insects mainly live on the leaves, sucking the plant's sap, causing poor growth of new shoots and leaf veins. Scale insects usually parasitize on branches and the backs of leaves.

If you find a small number of scale insects, you can use a small brush to brush them off, or spray them with No. 20 petroleum emulsion diluted with 150 times water.

Diseases and pests of Michelia: Sooty mold disease

Sooty mold mainly harms the leaves of Michelia, producing many black-brown spots and affecting its growth. Once spots are found on the leaves of the plant, cut off the diseased leaves, rinse them with clean water, and then spray them with a solution of carbendazim for prevention and control.

Michelia pests and diseases: leaf blight

Leaf spot disease of Michelia is relatively common. Leaf spot disease mostly occurs on the edges of leaves. There are densely packed black particles on the leaves. When the disease is serious, the leaves will wither and fall off. Solution: During the maintenance process, remove fallen leaves in time, and spray 50% thiophanate-methyl visible powder in time when diseased plants are found.

Diseases and pests of Michelia: Anthracnose

Anthracnose mainly harms the stems and young branches of Michelia, causing black-brown spots to appear, reducing the ornamental value of the plant and even causing the death of the plant. Solution: In the early stage of the disease, spray Bordeaux mixture for prevention and control. Spray once every 10 days or so. Treatment will basically be effective after 3 to 4 sprayings.
