Ranunculus pest control methods

Ranunculus pest control methods

Buttercup pests: leafminer

The leafminer is relatively common in Ranunculus, and the main damage period is from February to April . Its larvae mainly parasitize on leaves, forming white underground channels. Its excrement is black continuous lines produced in the swimming channels. The adults lay eggs and feed, causing circular lesions. The ornamental value of diseased plants is reduced and their photosynthesis is weak. If this continues for a long time, the plants will wither and die due to lack of nutrients.

Prevention and control methods: Comprehensive prevention and control must be adopted, with prevention as the main approach. If the plant is not placed on an open-air balcony for maintenance at home, the chance of this type of pest occurring is relatively small. Just spray the fungicide in time.

Once insect pests are found, promptly rotate and alternate between spraying with 5000 times diluted 75% diflubenzuron wettable powder, 1000 times diluted 4.5% highly effective cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate, 2000 times diluted 50% chlorpyrifos and other agents. Spray once every 10 days, spray three times in a row, observe the effect, and then decide whether to continue.

Ranunculus Pests: Aphids and Whiteflies

Aphids and whiteflies are common pests on leaves and are difficult to prevent, so they should be removed immediately once an infestation occurs. When there is a small amount of insect infestation, you can rinse the leaves with soapy water or clean water.

In serious cases, spray 3500 times diluted 1.8% acarb emulsifiable concentrate, or 2000 times diluted 50% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate, 20% mefenamic acid emulsifiable concentrate, or 10% imidacloprid wettable powder for prevention and control.
