Bugs in the water

When it comes to insects in the water, there are many kinds, including mosquito larvae, chironomid larvae, water fleas, water flounder, and red nematodes.

If these bugs gather together, you are just lucky, and your lotus is doomed to die! So once you find insects, you must deal with them in time.

How to clean insects from water

1. Fish farming

Once you find bugs in the water, add a few small tropical fish such as peacocks. Don't choose koi, it is a cold water fish. Water lilies like warmth, so don't harm the small fish for the water lilies. When raising guppies, be careful. Guppies will get too frightened and move the pot too often, especially if you are changing pots in a shallow pot. Don’t knock the pot, otherwise you will end up with dried fish!

2. Soak oleander in water

Find some oleander and soak it in water. You can mash it or make it into juice. Oleander is highly poisonous. Be careful not to eat it accidentally during the crushing process. Be sure to wear gloves, wash your hands after operation, and throw away all used utensils directly to avoid poisoning.

3. Soaking electric mosquito coils in it also works

Every home has electric mosquito coils, which can be crushed and soaked in water.

4. Spray pesticides

When spraying, spray only into the water and avoid splashing it onto the leaves. You can use pyrethroid insecticides, which will decompose in a few hours. Even if they splash onto the leaves, they will not affect the overall growth of the water lily. Another commonly used medicine is Flower Protector. Wear a mask when spraying to avoid poisoning.

When spraying pesticides, dilute them first to avoid damaging the roots and stems of the water lily due to high concentration.

5. Ginger Garlic Juice

We have ginger and garlic at home, so you don’t need a lot, just a small piece will do. Mash the ginger and garlic, wrap them in gauze, and soak them in a basin for half an hour.

6. Shrimp Farming

The shrimp specifically targets the red nematodes. However, if you raise fish in a pot, don’t raise shrimps, as the shrimps will eat the small fish.

Regardless of which method you use, you must change the water in time and clean out the insects in time after killing the insects to avoid the breeding of fungi.
