How to grow heather in spring

How to grow heather in spring

1. Increase nutrients

If it is a new plant, you need to mix base fertilizer into the soil before planting to meet the nutrient needs of subsequent growth. If it is an old plant, you need to apply a thin layer of fertilizer to it once a month. You can also use a slow-release fertilizer and bury it in the soil.

2. Increase watering

It is not a moisture-loving plant and is relatively drought-resistant, so when watering, you must control the amount and frequency of watering. After the thaw in early spring, it needs to be thawed with water, and the soil should be completely soaked with water. After the thawing water is used, there is no need to water it for the time being. After the spring climate stabilizes, watering it once or twice every half a month will be enough.

3. Proper pruning

The purpose of spring pruning is to improve the ornamental value and to concentrate nutrients. When pruning, first remove unhealthy and damaged branches, and finally shape it based on the pruning to make it look more ornamental.

4. Pest and disease protection

It is relatively cold-resistant, and plants with better cold resistance are more resistant to pests, but during the maintenance process, protective measures still need to be taken to prevent the plants from frostbite. If it is unfortunately infected with pests, it will need to be sprayed with professional pesticides. If there are pests in the soil, the plants need to be pulled out and replanted in new soil, and the old soil must be disinfected before being discarded.
