What to do if Calla Lily is infested with insects

What to do if Calla Lily is infested with insects

Common pests

The main pests of Calla Lily are piercing-sucking pests. They use their needle-like mouthparts to suck the sap from flowers, causing galls or symptoms such as yellowing of leaves and branches. The main ones are aphids, scale insects, red spiders, whiteflies, stink bugs, thrips, etc.

Prevention and treatment measures

Drug prevention

All pests can be sprayed with 1000-1500 times dilution of omethoate;

Except for scale insects, other pests can be sprayed with 2500-3000 times diluted cypermethrin; for red spider mites, spray with 1000 times diluted trichloronate.

Plant pesticide control

Plant-based pesticides are handmade, non-toxic, absolutely environmentally friendly, and have good effects.

Garlic juice

Soak 250 grams of purple garlic in water, mash it to extract the juice, dilute it 10-20 times with water and then spray it. Pouring this liquid into the potting soil can prevent and control nematodes, earthworms, etc. (Not only pests, but even people will probably stay away!)

Boil water with hot peppers

Add 50 grams of red dried chili peppers to clean water and boil for 15 minutes. Filter and spray the mixture to prevent and control pests such as whiteflies, aphids, red spiders, and stink bugs.

Tobacco leaves soaked in water

Add 50 grams of tobacco leaves to 1500 ml of water and soak overnight. Rub it vigorously with your hands and filter it. Add a small amount of laundry detergent and spray it. It can prevent and control aphids, red spiders, stink bugs, whiteflies, leafhoppers, thrips, leaf rollers and many other leaf-eating pests.

Boil water with Artemisia annua

Add 500 grams of Artemisia annua (which is abundant on the streets) to 4000 grams of water and boil for half an hour (the ratio is 1:8 ), then filter and water the plants. It can prevent and control underground pests and damping-off disease.
