How to save the fortune tree from root rot, what to do if the root rot is serious

How to save the fortune tree from root rot, what to do if the root rot is serious

1. How to save

1. Root rot analysis

Overwatering can cause root rot. The amount of watering should be reduced. Wait until the soil is dry before watering. The soil must not hold water. In addition, if the weather turns cold and the temperature drops, the roots and stems will be frozen and cannot be salvaged. Generally, when the temperature is below 5℃, it cannot survive normally.

2. Remove rotten roots and disinfect them

If only the roots are rotten, you can cut off the roots and soak them in a special disinfectant. Replanting in new soil will allow the roots to re-grow. If the main trunk of the plant rots, the chances of saving it are slim. Once the tissue inside the trunk becomes soft and water accumulates, it cannot be saved.

3. Incision treatment

Use a special sterilized knife to cut off the rotten root part, and after disinfection, in order to avoid infection, you can apply wood ash to the cut part. Then put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 2 hours.

4. Potting and maintenance

After dealing with the rotten roots, you can take good care of it and put it into the pot. After changing to a new pot, the soil must also be disinfected or special nutrient soil must be used. Be careful not to block the small holes at the bottom of the pot. Ensure the breathability of the pelvic floor. Do a good job of post-maintenance and keep the temperature at around 15℃.

2. What to do if the roots are severely rotten?

The roots can be pruned with scissors. Cut off all rotten root parts. Let it re-root on its own. If there is rotten part in the stem, then the stem needs to be cleaned. Soak in disinfectant solution for a day and night. Place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry, and then you can replant it.
