How to prevent root rot in hydroponic money tree

Hydroponic money tree needs pruning

The hydroponic money tree also needs to be pruned. There are two main aspects of pruning: one is pruning before hydroponics; the other is pruning after a period of hydroponics.

When pruning before hydroponics, you should first trim the leaves at the base of the money tree. Note that the length of the money tree inserted into the bottle should be determined, and all the leaves below the bottle mouth should be removed. In addition, the roots should be trimmed by cutting off a small part at an angle with scissors.

After a period of hydroponic cultivation, the roots of the money tree may have turned brown or lignified. At this time, the aging roots should be pruned in time to prevent them from rotting, and the plant can then grow new roots.

The water level of the hydroponic fortune tree should not be too high

When hydroponically cultivating the money tree, you must pay attention to the height of the water level. If the water level is too high, the roots of the money tree will rot more easily. Generally, when starting hydroponics, the water level should just touch the roots. As the tree grows and new roots grow, the water level should gradually drop, and only the root tip should be kept immersed in water.

Hydroponic fortune trees require appropriate light and temperature

The hydroponic money tree is suitable to be grown in a ventilated and brightly lit place, and the light should be kept at a relatively warm state. Because of the hot and humid weather, it is very easy to cause root rot, and if the weather is cold in winter, the money tree can easily freeze to death, so the right temperature is very important. Although the requirements for light are not high, if it is grown hydroponically indoors, it is best to place it where it can be exposed to sunlight.

Hydroponic money tree needs cleaning

When hydroponically cultivating the money tree, it needs to be cleaned in a timely manner, and this cleaning mainly involves the cleaning of water and algae. After a period of hydroponics, the nutrient solution of the money tree will deteriorate and become turbid, and algae or mosquitoes will breed. At this time, root rot may occur. The simplest way is to replace the nutrient solution in time.

When cleaning, clean the hydroponic container and replace it with new nutrient solution. The cleaning and replacement time is generally once every 5-10 days in spring and summer, and once every half a month in autumn and winter.

What to do if the roots of hydroponic fortune tree rot

When the roots of the hydroponic money tree rot, you can cut off the rotten roots. You can use a sharp knife to cut them off, but be sure to cut them cleanly. After cutting off the rotten roots, they must be cleaned and sterilized, placed in a container of clean water to rejuvenate, and wait for new roots to grow out before re-hydroponically cultivating.
