What to do if gardenia does not grow buds

What to do if gardenia does not grow buds

1. Replace the potting soil

If the potting soil is not chosen well, it will affect the growth of flower buds. You can replace the suitable potting soil. Choose ceramic pots for flower pots, which are breathable and well drained. Choose acidic soil for the soil. You can mix peat soil, leaf mold, and garden soil. You can also go directly to the market and buy special ones, which is more practical and convenient.

2. Supplement sunlight

Long-term growth in places with insufficient light will also affect the flower buds. It needs to be given enough sunlight during its growth so that nutrients can be synthesized and flower buds can grow smoothly. However, be careful not to provide strong light in summer, otherwise it will irritate the plant and provide appropriate shade.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Failure to fertilize for a long time will lead to insufficient nutrition for the plant, so the flower buds will naturally fail to grow. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer will cause the plant to grow too tall. Pay attention to the balance of fertilizer elements. Before the flower buds form, sufficient nutrients must be added to ensure that the flower buds grow. It is also necessary to maintain a balance among the elements, reduce nitrogen fertilizers, and increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

4. Proper water control

Before the flower buds are formed, excessive watering will cause the plant to stretch and grow, making it difficult to bloom, so the amount of water should be controlled appropriately and water should not accumulate in the flowerpot.
