Rose has strong adaptability to the environment, is cold-resistant and drought-resistant, and is suitable for planting in slightly acidic sandy loam that is rich in organic matter, well-drained, loose and fertile.

The origin of rose is China, mainly distributed in Shuyang, Jiangsu, Nanyang, Henan, and Laizhou, Shandong Province. Shuyang, Jiangsu is the place with the largest rose production in East China, and Shiqiao Town, Nanyang City and Laizhou are the "hometowns of roses".

Rose growth conditions

Rose is suitable for planting in fertile, loose, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. It has strong adaptability to soil and prefers a humid environment. The relative humidity of the air should be controlled at 75% to 80%. The maintenance environment should maintain good ventilation to reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests. It will die if it grows in an environment with poor air quality. It is not resistant to strong light and should be shaded in summer.

Rose growth temperature

Roses prefer a warm environment. The optimum temperature for most varieties is 15-26 degrees during the day and 10-15 degrees at night. They are relatively cold-resistant and will go dormant when the temperature drops below 5 degrees in winter. If the high temperature in summer continues to be above 30 degrees, they will enter a semi-dormant state and it is difficult to bloom. Even if they do, the quality is low. Most varieties can withstand low temperatures of -15°C and the suitable growth temperature is 22 to 25 degrees.

Rose planting time and method

To plant roses well, you need to choose the right time. They are usually planted in spring and autumn. Because the temperature in spring and autumn is most suitable for the growth of roses, planting at this time can ensure the germination of seeds.

1. Because roses prefer cool and warm climates, they do not grow very well during the high temperature season in summer. Only the first batch of flowers during the May Day period has the best flowering quality in the growth cycle. Base fertilizer should be applied during the winter dormancy period, mainly decomposed cake fertilizer or animal manure, and chemical fertilizers should be applied as topdressing during the growth period.

2. If you are growing roses in potted plants, you must first ensure that they get sufficient dormancy in the winter. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the flowers earlier in the spring, you should gradually warm up the environment about a month in advance, and finally the temperature should be between 20-25℃. You can apply some fertilizer during this period, but sufficient light is required, otherwise fertilizer and water alone will not be enough.

3. As long as you provide the rose with appropriate light, reasonable water and fertilizer, and proper temperature and environmental conditions, you can successfully maintain the rose.
