Cucumber planting time

Cucumbers are suitable for planting in spring from March to April. The temperature at this time is relatively warm, which is suitable for the growth and development of seedlings. Different planting sites need to be adjusted according to the local climate. They can be planted earlier or later. In addition, they can also be planted in autumn. It is best to plant them two months before the frost, not too late to avoid affecting their quality.

Cucumber Planting Methods

1. Seed soaking and germination

Before planting cucumbers, soak the prepared seeds in 50-degree hot water for a few minutes to disinfect and sterilize them. Then change to 30-degree warm water and soak for 3-4 hours. Take them out and put them in a wet cloth. Keep the ambient temperature at around 20 degrees and spray water frequently to keep them moist. They will turn white in about two days.

2. How to plant

Whether planted in the ground or in pots, suitable soil must be provided. Usually, the substrate is prepared with garden soil and river sand. Some farmyard manure can also be applied as base fertilizer. This can provide certain nutrients, which is very helpful for the growth of cucumbers. Sow the seeds in the soil, cover them with a thin layer of soil, and water them with an appropriate amount. In about 7 days, you can see it sprouting.

Cucumber planting precautions

Generally, when the cucumber grows a pair of true leaves, it should be transplanted. The densely growing plants should be planted separately, and two plants can be planted in one pot. Be careful when transplanting so as not to damage its root system. Afterwards, pay attention to watering. It will usually recover in about 7 days. Then you need to prepare to build a frame and carry out good water and fertilizer management.
