Why are the leaves of Schefflera turning yellow?

Why are the leaves of Schefflera turning yellow?

1. Improper watering

If too much water is given during management, the plant will not be able to absorb all of it. Over time, water will accumulate and the roots will rot. The leaves will turn yellow and even fall off in severe cases. If you water too little, the soil in the pot will remain dry for a long time and the roots will not be able to absorb water. In this case, the leaves will turn yellow, which is called drought yellowing. Normally, you must water in moderation, keep the soil slightly moist during the growing season, and control the water in winter, and do not water unless the soil is dry.

2. Too much light

Schefflera can only be exposed to diffuse light. If it is placed in direct sunlight during maintenance, the leaves will turn yellow due to long-term exposure and will be sunburned. Yellowing caused by sunburn is easy to solve. Just move it to a place with dim light and keep it for a while, and it will slowly return to normal.

3. Improper fertilization

The yellowing of its leaves may also be caused by improper fertilization. If a large amount of fertilizer is applied at one time or uncomposted fertilizer is given, the plant will not be able to absorb it and the roots will be burned, resulting in yellow leaves. In addition, if fertilizer is not supplemented for a long time, the plant will lack fertilizer, fail to absorb the necessary nutrients, and will also turn yellow. It should be noted that thin fertilizers should be applied frequently during the growing season. It is best to apply diluted fertilizer solution so that the plants can absorb it better, which is also beneficial to growth. If you apply granular fertilizer, dilute it with water to avoid fertilizer damage.
