Why are the leaves of Chlorophytum turning yellow?

Why are the leaves of Chlorophytum turning yellow?

1. Too much light

It is a semi-shade plant and cannot be exposed to strong light. If it is placed in direct sunlight during maintenance, especially direct sunlight in summer, the light will be too strong and will burn the leaves, causing them to turn yellow and even dry up and fall off in severe cases. Be sure to move it to a dark place in time, or build a shade shed where it is placed.

2. Too much watering

During the breeding period, watering should be done reasonably, and watering should be done when the soil is dry or wet. Be careful not to water too much each time and avoid water accumulation, otherwise the roots will rot over time, which will result in yellow leaves. If you water too much, stop watering immediately and loosen the soil to speed up water evaporation. If the situation is serious, it is recommended to remove the plant from the pot, cut off all the rotten roots, and then repot it.

3. Too much fertilizer

It needs a certain amount of fertilizer to grow, but it can only be done with thin fertilizers applied frequently. If too much fertilizer is applied at one time or the concentration is too high, it will burn the roots and the leaves will turn yellow. This situation should be diluted by watering, allowing the excess fertilizer to flow out from the bottom of the pot after being diluted. If the situation is more serious, it is recommended to change the soil and pot directly.

4. Temperature discomfort

It has high requirements for temperature, and high or low temperatures must be controlled in time. If the plant is not ventilated, shaded and watered in time to cool it down in the summer, the high temperature will affect its growth and yellow leaves will appear. If the temperature is below 5 degrees in winter, it will be frostbitten and the leaves will turn yellow. Be sure to move it indoors and provide a warm environment.
