Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Calla Lily

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Calla Lily

1. Improper watering

1. Reason: Calla lily likes to grow in a humid environment, but excessive watering will cause waterlogging in the potting soil, which can easily damage the roots of the plant and cause yellow leaves. Too little watering will cause the soil in the pot to dry out, which can easily cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: If it is caused by over-watering, you need to loosen the soil more, place it in a cool and well-ventilated place, and maintain it for a period of time. If it is caused by too little watering, you need to replenish the water it needs immediately, but there should be no water accumulation. Just keep the soil moist. Be careful not to water the center of the leaves to prevent soft rot.

2. Improper fertilization

1. Reason: Calla lily likes fertilizer, but too much or too concentrated fertilizer can easily damage its roots, resulting in yellow leaves. Applying too little fertilizer will not provide it with enough nutrients and can easily lead to yellow leaves.

2. Treatment method: If the yellow leaves are caused by excessive fertilization, you can use water to wash away the excess fertilizer and place it in a well-ventilated place for maintenance for a period of time; if conditions permit, it is best to replace the soil with new one, rinse the roots clean, and then move it back to the new soil for maintenance. If the yellow leaves are caused by too little fertilization, you need to add fertilizer in time. During the flowering period, phosphorus fertilizer should be used mainly, and decomposed liquid fertilizer should be applied 2-3 times a month.

3. Temperature discomfort

1. Reason: Calla lily likes to grow in a warm environment and is not cold-resistant. Temperatures that are too high or too low can easily cause its leaves to turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: If the yellow leaves are caused by high temperature, they need to be moved to a cool place for maintenance, especially during the high temperature period in summer, and shade protection must be provided. If the yellow leaves are caused by low temperature, move it to a warm and well-ventilated place indoors for maintenance. Try to control the temperature of the maintenance environment at around 20℃, as such an environment is more conducive to its growth.
