Pictures of old piles of succulent Oplina, how to make them old

1. Control watering

If you want Oplina to become an old tree, you must first control watering. By starving the plant of water, you can encourage the bottom leaves to fall off, allowing its stem to gradually emerge. It should be noted that water control does not mean no watering at all. The soil in the pot must not be allowed to be too dry, which is also not conducive to the growth of the plant.

2. Enhance lighting

As a succulent plant, Oplina needs sufficient light to grow. By increasing the light, the stems can be lignified and the formation of old stumps can be promoted. However, since the plant cannot tolerate exposure to the sun, it needs proper shade in the summer and must avoid exposure to sunlight at noon. It can be placed in a sunny place to bask in the sun at other times.

3. Adjust the temperature

Oplina likes a warm climate. Temperatures that are too high or too low are not conducive to the development of the plant or the formation of old piles. Therefore, the temperature must be controlled and maintained at 10-25℃. If the temperature is too high, the plant is at risk of black rot and attention needs to be paid to ventilation. If the temperature is too low, the plants are easily frostbitten and need to be bagged to keep warm.

4. Appropriate fertilization

It is a long process for Oplina to grow into an old stump. If there is not enough nutrients during the growth process, it will naturally not work. Usually fertilizer should be applied once a month during the growing season. In order to promote the thickness of the stems, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Be sure to control the amount of nitrogen fertilizer. Once the plant grows too tall, the old stump will not look good.
