How to take cuttings of gardenia in spring

How to take cuttings of gardenia in spring

1. Soil culture cutting method

1. Choose branches: Cut a branch from a plant with good growth, the length should be about 10-15cm. It is best to use healthy branches. Do not use branches that have been infested by diseases and insects.

2. Processing branches: cut the bottom cut of the branch into an oblique cut and the upper cut into a flat cut. All the extra leaves should be cut off, leaving only the top 3-4 leaves. If conditions permit, it is best to soak the branches in rooting water for a while, about ten minutes.

3. Prepare the soil: You can buy some special soil, or prepare the soil yourself. The soil should be loose and well-drained, and must be disinfected before use to ensure there are no bacteria in it.

4. Carry out cuttings: Insert the prepared branches into the soil, press them down with soil around them, then water them thoroughly and wait for about a month for new roots to grow.

2. Hydroponic cutting method

Also, prepare the branches before cuttings. It is recommended to use branches that are two years old, as the survival rate will be relatively higher. Prepare a transparent hydroponic container so that you can see the rooting of the branches. Insert the branches and replace the water when it becomes dirty.
