Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of juniper

Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of juniper

1. Lack of nutrients

Reason: It does not require much fertilizer. However, if nutrients are insufficient for a long time, its leaves will turn yellow.

Treatment method: Nutrients need to be supplemented according to the growth status of the plant. Generally, during the breeding process, fertilizer can be applied only in spring and autumn. From March to May, you can apply fertilizer two or three times, and you can choose cake fertilizer water as the fertilizer. In autumn, apply once or twice.

2. Overwatering

Reason: Juniper is very drought-resistant, but it is afraid of waterlogging. Do not add too much water at ordinary times and avoid water accumulation. Otherwise, if the soil in the pot is damp for a long time and the temperature is high, it will cause partial rot of the roots. The young leaves will turn light yellow, and the old leaves will turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: When yellow leaves are caused by excessive watering, if the situation is not very serious, you can raise the flower pot, loosen the soil, etc. to allow the moisture in the soil to evaporate. If the situation is serious, you need to remove the juniper from the pot, cut off the damaged roots, and then place it in new soil. Reduce watering after this to prevent this from happening again.

3. Untimely pruning

Reason: When the plant enters its peak growth period, it needs to be pruned frequently. Otherwise, not only will the leaves grow yellow and affect the ornamental value of the entire plant, but in severe cases it may also wilt and die.

Treatment: Appropriate bud picking is required, which can be done by removing with fingers or carefully cutting with scissors. This allows water and nutrients to be dispersed to each branch and also improves the ornamental value of the plant. When the plant is growing vigorously, picking buds and leaves can make the branches short and the leaves dense.
