Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of Jade Dew

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of Jade Dew

1. Overwatering

Reason: Jade plant prefers coolness and does not like a hot and humid growing environment. Therefore, if too much water is given and it cannot be absorbed in time, water will accumulate in the soil, which will affect root breathing, hinder the absorption of nutrients in the soil, and the leaves will slowly turn yellow.

Measures: Stop watering immediately, loosen the soil and drain the water, place it in a cool and ventilated place, and let it dry. In daily maintenance, you must pay attention to watering less and avoid rain, as it is relatively drought-resistant.

2. Lighting issues

Reason: Jade plant is suitable for growing in a semi-shady environment. The sunlight cannot be too strong, but it can also be not absent. If the sunlight is too strong, it will burn the leaves, causing them to grow poorly and gradually turn yellow. If there is too little light, the plant will become loose and the leaves will gradually become thinner and yellower.

Measures: Move it to a semi-shaded place with bright light to ensure that it will not be exposed to the sun, but can still receive sufficient light to allow its leaves to grow thicker, greener and fuller.

3. Disease problems

Cause: Common diseases of jade plant include root rot and anthracnose. The former is caused by root rot, which causes the leaves to shrivel and turn yellow. The disease usually peaks in May. The latter is a fungal disease, which is an important disease that seriously endangers the survival of succulents. It may be caused by excessive nitrogen fertilizer, which often breaks out in hot and humid seasons, especially during the rainy season. It causes brown spots to appear on the leaves, which then turn yellow.

Measures: For root rot, metalaxyl or copper preparations can be used for root irrigation treatment when the disease occurs. It can also be used together with copper preparations for prevention at other times. During daily maintenance, pay attention to choosing soil with good drainage, mixed with leaf mold and coarse sand. To treat anthrax, you need to ventilate more, lower the indoor humidity and temperature, and then spray with 1000 times diluted 70% methyl thiophanate wettable powder to effectively alleviate the problem.
