Causes and treatments of yellow evening primrose leaves

Causes and treatments of yellow evening primrose leaves

1. Insufficient light

Reason: Evening primrose likes light and has a high demand for light. If there is insufficient light, photosynthesis cannot be fully carried out and the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Move it to a sunny place and provide additional light. It is suitable for cultivation in a ventilated and bright place in the courtyard, and can also be grown on the balcony to absorb sunlight every day. In summer, it can be placed in semi-shade, and it is just right to receive scattered light in the morning and evening, but avoid direct sunlight.

2. Insufficient nutrients

Cause: Too little fertilizer and malnutrition of the plant may also cause yellowing of leaves.

Solution: Nutrients need to be replenished in time. You can increase the frequency and amount of fertilization and apply some thin fertilizer. If it is in the growing season, you can apply liquid fertilizer 1-2 times a month. Nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used during the growing period, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are mainly used during the bud formation period.

3. Overwatering

Reason: Evening primrose is relatively drought-tolerant but not water-tolerant. Excessive watering can easily cause problems such as root rot and yellow leaves.

Solution: Place the plant in a vent to allow excess water to evaporate quickly. If the plant has root rot due to being in moist soil for a long time, it is necessary to remove it from the pot in time, cut off the rotten roots and disinfect it. Wait until the soil in the pot is dry before replanting it. In daily maintenance, water the plants in time when the soil surface is dry, and weed in time after each watering to promote healthy growth of the plants.
