What to do if passion fruit leaves turn yellow and shrink

What to do if passion fruit leaves turn yellow and shrink

1. Supplement fertilizer

Cause: Insufficient nutrients in the potting soil will cause passion fruit to grow poorly, causing its leaves to turn yellow and shrink.

Solution: Fertilize passion fruit appropriately. Generally, a lack of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers will cause yellowing leaves, but the circumstances are slightly different. If the plant is weak, it is often caused by nitrogen deficiency. If the edges of the leaves turn yellow, it is caused by potassium deficiency. You can apply some compound fertilizer to fully supplement nutrition.

2. Increase Lighting

Reason: Passion fruit grows best in an environment with sufficient light. An environment that is too shady will cause it to grow poorly, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Move the passion fruit to a sunny location with at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. Since it is not afraid of strong sunlight, there is no need for shade. Adequate sunlight not only allows the plant to grow well, but also helps the development of fruits.

3. Root pruning and replanting

Cause: Excessive watering or excessive fertilizer concentration can cause rot in the passion fruit roots, affecting its ability to absorb water and nutrients, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Take the passion fruit out of the pot and remove some of the old soil to expose the roots. Check for rot and remove any rotten roots promptly. Then soak it in a solution of carbendazim, take it out after a period of time and put it in a cool place. The dried plants should be replanted in dry soil to avoid recurrence of root rot.

4. Water in time

Cause: No watering for a long time or too little water, resulting in the roots not absorbing water, causing the leaves to turn yellow and shrink.

Solution: Water the passion fruit in time. Although it has a certain degree of drought tolerance, long-term lack of water will still lead to poor growth. Generally, water should be added immediately after the soil dries out, and the amount of water should be sufficient, but no water should accumulate.
