What to do if the leaves of potted roses turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of potted roses turn yellow

1. Rehydrate in time

Reason: If the leaves of the rose gradually turn yellow from the roots upwards, it means that it is lacking water.

Solution: Rehydrate the plants promptly. Generally, you should water the plant when the soil in the pot is dry. Insufficient watering will not only cause the leaves to turn yellow, but also cause them to fall off. Therefore, the soil in the pot should be kept moist at all times to avoid long-term dryness.

2. Supplement fertilizer

Reason: If the new leaves of the rose turn yellow first, it means it is caused by lack of fertilizer.

Solution: Fertilize roses in time. You can choose decomposed organic fertilizer and apply it once every 10 days. The amount and concentration of fertilizer should not be too large each time to avoid burning the roots. In addition, some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added during the bud stage to help the flowers grow larger and more colorful.

3. Improve soil quality

Cause: If the young leaves of the rose turn yellow but the veins are green, it means that the soil is alkaline.

Solution: Add a certain amount of ferrous sulfate when watering, the content should not exceed 0.5%. This can effectively improve the pH of the soil, making it more suitable for the growth of roses.

4. Disease and pest control

Cause: Many pests and diseases can cause rose leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Different diseases and insect pests require corresponding pesticides for prevention and control. Remove diseased insects and leaves and spray pesticides at the same time. Do not spray too frequently as this may damage the plants.
