What to do if Hawaiian coconut leaves turn yellow

What to do if Hawaiian coconut leaves turn yellow

1. Inappropriate fertilizer

When cultivating it, we choose some leaf mold, river sand, etc., and then mix them with a small amount of organic fertilizer to form a culture medium. This will make it easier to survive in the early stages. Then, from March to October every year, you should apply liquid fertilizer to it every two weeks to make the leaves greener. If the above is not done, then its nutrients will not be supplied and yellowing of the leaves is inevitable. Therefore, fertilization should be appropriate.

2. Humidity discomfort

During its growing season, the soil must be kept moist at all times, and the air must not be too dry, otherwise the humidity will decrease, and the leaves will become dull or even yellow. When the air is dry, we can often spray water on its leaves to increase the humidity of the air, so that its leaves can be dark green. This shows that humidity is also a factor that affects leaf color.

3. Inappropriate light exposure

It is very afraid of strong light. If it is accidentally exposed to strong light, its leaves will turn yellow. It generally prefers a semi-shady environment, and can tolerate shade for a long time. It will be fine even if it stays in a dark place for 1 to 2 months. Therefore, when you are taking care of it, if you really expose it to too much sunlight, it can only receive some bright scattered light.

4. Improper watering

Although it needs a humid environment, the water cannot be too abundant, otherwise the soil in the pot will be too moist, causing root rot, affecting the nutrient transfer of the plant, and causing the leaves to turn yellow. Therefore, you must water it in moderation to keep the leaves dark green.

5. Caused by disease

When the temperature and humidity are extremely high, it will be prone to some diseases. These diseases will directly affect the plants, preventing them from growing normally, and causing nutrient deficiencies, leading to yellowing leaves. We need to discover and prevent them in time to prevent damage to the leaves.
