Thyme's Flower Language: Courage

It is said that in ancient Greece, if a girl had a boy she admired, she would embroider some thyme flower patterns on her clothes, or decorate herself with thyme flowers, so that her beloved boy would have the same thoughts as her and would gradually fall in love with her. If a young man has a girl he loves but lacks the courage to confess his love to her, he will have the courage to confess his love to her after drinking thyme tea. In ancient Greek, the word thyme means courage.

The legend of thyme

There are several theories about the origin of thyme. One theory is that thyme is the tears shed by the stunningly beautiful goddess of love Aphrodite. After her tears fell to the ground, beautiful flowers bloomed, which is thyme.

Another theory is about Helen, the peerless beauty in ancient Greek mythology. The Greek goddess of jealousy used a golden apple to sow discord among three goddesses. Among them, the god of love bribed the referee Paris from the mortal world for the golden apple and promised to give him the most beautiful woman Helen in the world. As a result, the god of love got the golden apple and Paris also got the beautiful Helen. But the beautiful Helen was already the wife of Menelaos, the king of Sparta at that time. As a result, the Trojan War was triggered by the fight for Helen. In the end, Prince Paris won, and Helen shed tears of emotion when she heard the news of Prince Paris' victory. Her tears fell to the ground and blossomed into thyme flowers as beautiful as Helen's.
