The causes and solutions of yellowing iris leaves

The causes and solutions of yellowing iris leaves

The reason why iris leaves turn yellow: excessive sunlight

Irises prefer a semi-shaded environment, which is why most irises are grown in greenhouses. When growing outdoors, be sure to block out the sun; excessive light will cause the leaves to turn yellow. Especially at noon in summer, when the sun is scorching, the blooming irises evaporate water quickly under the sunlight, and the leaves are easily burned, causing the plants to wither and turn yellow.

Solution: Provide shade when the sunlight is strong. In addition, when growing irises outdoors, you can spray them appropriately at noon to increase air humidity and reduce temperature.

The reason why iris leaves turn yellow: overwatering

Irises don't like a very humid environment, so it's best not to water them too frequently. The soil in the pot is waterlogged, which restricts the breathing of the roots and causes the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Water once every 7 days during the growth period. When the temperature drops, the amount of water should be gradually reduced, and the soil in the pot can be slightly dry.

The reason why iris leaves turn yellow: too little watering

Although irises do not need too much water, they are plants after all, so an appropriate amount of water is essential. Too dry soil in the pot is not conducive to its growth, and will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: It needs an appropriate amount of water when growing.

The reason why iris leaves turn yellow: excessive fertilizer

During the maintenance process, many flower lovers are not very clear about the fertilizer required by irises and the time to apply fertilizer. Applying too much fertilizer will cause the soil to become compacted, affecting root growth and causing yellow leaves.

Solution: Use some base fertilizer before cultivation, apply fertilizer once every autumn, and increase the amount appropriately during the growth period.
