What to do if the leaves of Vinca rosea turn yellow

Soil is alkaline

Catharanthus roseus does not have very high requirements for soil, but it is suitable for growing in acidic soil. Alkaline soil will cause Catharanthus roseus to grow poorly, causing the leaves to turn yellow and not bloom.

Solution: Test the pH of the soil for planting. If the soil is alkaline, it needs to be treated.

Poor soil aeration

Poor soil air permeability is also the reason why the leaves of Catharanthus roseus turn yellow. Many people grow flowers in soil that is very sticky and has poor water permeability. There will be no problems with this kind of soil in the short term, but over time, the poor water and air permeability of the soil will cause poor breathing of the lower roots of Catharanthus roseus, resulting in frequent yellowing and falling leaves.

Solution: Choose sandy soil with good drainage for planting, and be careful not to overwater.

Overwatering

Catharanthus roseus is afraid of moisture and waterlogging. Do not water the potting soil too much, otherwise it will affect the root breathing and cause the old leaves to turn yellow and the new leaves to turn tender yellow.

Solution: Strictly control watering, keep it dry, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

Overfertilization

Many flower lovers worry that Catharanthus roseus does not have enough nutrients and does not bloom well, so they occasionally put some fertilizer or something into the potting soil, hoping that it can be absorbed and bloom more. This method is correct, but the mistake lies in the frequency of fertilization. If fertilization is done frequently, it will be difficult for Catharanthus roseus to absorb it completely. The fertilizer will remain in the soil and always surround the roots, causing the entire Catharanthus roseus to be sluggish, grow slowly, bloom less, and have smaller petals.

Solution: For Catharanthus roseus, you can apply compound fertilizer and liquid fertilizer alternately once, and do not apply fertilizer casually at other times. Water the next day after fertilizing to promote nutrient absorption.

Too little watering

Catharanthus roseus cannot be watered too much or too little. If it is watered too little or not watered thoroughly for a long time, the plant cannot absorb enough water, the new leaves will wilt, and the old leaves will turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: Pay attention to watering. You can water the plant after the soil in the pot is completely dry, and make sure it is watered thoroughly.
