What to do if the leaves of hydroponic green radish turn yellow

The reason why the leaves of hydroponic green radish turn yellow

Sudden environmental changes

Generally, newly bought green radish has about a one-month adaptation period to the new environment. It is normal for the leaves at the bottom to turn yellow. But remember: do not peel off the yellow or dead leaves directly, but cut them off from the middle of the petiole to avoid direct peeling, which will cause excessive water loss and increase wounds; which will cause the upper leaves to turn yellow.

Light and temperature discomfort

The green radish likes high temperature, high humidity and semi-shady environment. It is not cold-resistant and the wintering temperature should not be lower than 10℃. It is sensitive to temperature and should avoid direct sunlight in summer. Its leaves will easily turn yellow and fall off under strong light. It can grow well under bright diffuse light indoors in winter, and has high water requirements during the growth period.

Poor water quality

The reason why the green radish grows in water may also be due to bacteria in the water. If it is grown in tap water, it may be due to the high content of bleach in the water. The green ivy itself is not resistant to low temperatures. Long-term low temperatures and high water levels will cause root rot, leading to insufficient water supply to the root system. Finally, the leaves at the roots will begin to turn yellow and the leaves at the top will lose their luster.

Solution to the yellowing of leaves of hydroponic green radish

Plenty of sunlight

It should be placed in a place with sufficient diffuse light, and the leaves should be sprayed with water frequently during the growth period. Spraying 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can restore the bright spots on the leaves. Use a larger (water surface) culture container if possible, and add oxygen to the water if conditions permit.

Fertilization

You can also spray 1% urea. Every living thing has a life cycle. It may have already aged. Just let nature take its course. Only when it turns yellow will it grow new leaves. There is no need to worry.

Change water frequently

Then, change the water once a week for hydroponics. If conditions permit, add some medical stone or small stones to effectively reduce the occurrence of yellow leaves. When changing the water, rinse the roots thoroughly and cut off the diseased roots. Don't put too much water, just enough to remove the roots. When growing in water, it is recommended to wrap the roots of the green radish, soil and sawdust with cloth and then put it in water.
