Cultivation methods and precautions of Chlorophytum comosum

Cultivation methods and precautions of Chlorophytum comosum

1. Soil

When breeding, you need to use soil that is breathable, permeable and has good drainage properties, which you can prepare yourself. Mix an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer, sandy soil, and garden soil, or mix garden soil and coarse sand, and then add an appropriate amount of decomposed manure to increase nutrients. The plants will grow vigorously in such a soil environment.

2. Lighting

It is a plant that loves sunlight very much. If you want it to bloom better, you must give it sufficient light. Generally, it should be exposed to direct sunlight for six hours in spring, autumn and winter, and scattered light will be enough for the rest of the time. The sunlight in the hot summer is too strong, so you should avoid it in time and put it in semi-shade for maintenance.

3. Watering

Its peak growing season is from March to September each year, and it requires more water, so it needs to be replenished in time. Generally, you need to water it every three or four days to keep the soil slightly moist. When the temperature drops in autumn, the water requirement will decrease, so the frequency of watering should be reduced, generally once a week is enough. You should also observe the surface of the potting soil more often to avoid water accumulation.

4. Fertilization

It likes thin fertilizer, so when raising it, you must follow the principle of applying thin fertilizer frequently. Usually, fertilizer should be added every month in spring and autumn. Ordinary compound fertilizer or decomposed cake fertilizer will be sufficient. If you want it to bloom better, water it with potassium dihydrogen phosphate once a month. This will increase the number of flowers and make the colors brighter.

5. Notes

Its cold resistance is relatively poor, and the temperature is lower in winter, so you must pay attention to timely temperature control. It is recommended to move the plants indoors after the temperature drops, and control the temperature above 10 degrees. If necessary, cover them with plastic film to avoid frostbite.
