Is Cattleya suitable for domestic cultivation?

Is Cattleya suitable for domestic cultivation?

Reasons why Cattleya is suitable for planting in China:

Cattleya has strong survival ability and can grow in our country, or can be planted in many places where small environments are created. It is a perennial herb belonging to the genus Cattleya.

Cattleya likes to be in a warm and humid environment all year round. In order to protect Cattleya's normal wintering, the temperature needs to be maintained at 20-25 ℃ during the day and around 15 ℃ at night. The growth environment of Cattleya should have a large temperature difference between day and night. The temperature cannot be kept constant, and the night temperature cannot be higher than the day temperature.

Cattleya requires a semi-shaded and humid environment to grow. In seasons other than winter, 50-60% of the light for Cattleya's growth should be blocked to reduce its photosynthesis.

In a warm and humid environment, its leaves and pseudobulbs are dark green, grow vigorously, are shiny, and have beautiful flowers. New roots and buds grow vigorously and healthily.

Temperatures around 10°C will delay and shorten the flowering period, and the plant will not be able to fully open. If the temperature is around 5 °C, the leaves will appear dark yellow and lifeless, the flower buds will not be able to grow tall and strong, the sheaths will turn brown, and its growth will be severely hindered.

When the temperature drops to 1-2 ℃, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off quickly, causing the flower buds to die completely. If the night temperature is higher than 20 ℃, the flowering period will be too short.

During greenhouse cultivation, the temperature difference between day and night should be large, and the daytime temperature needs to be 5-10 ℃ higher than the nighttime temperature. It requires higher water and higher air humidity during its growing season. It must not be dry or lack of water, otherwise it will affect the growth and survival of Cattleya. In winter, Cattleya will almost stop growing and is in a relatively dormant season, which is a good time for germination. At this time, the air humidity should be kept good and the room temperature should be suitable, and it should not be allowed to dry out.
