Cultivation methods and precautions for cactus grafted with Christmas cactus

Cultivation methods and precautions for cactus grafted with Christmas cactus

1. Lighting

When grafting cactus onto Christmas cactus, do not move it to the sun right after the grafting is completed. It should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for 20 days to reduce water evaporation and increase the survival rate of the graft. After the plant is grafted and survives, gradually increase the light to full sunlight.

2. Watering

When grafting cactus onto Christmas cactus, do not water it in the first 20 days. Water it after 20 days and just make the soil moist. When watering, be careful not to splash water onto the grafting area, so as to avoid the grafting area from rotting and causing grafting failure.

3. Heat preservation and moisturizing

When grafting cactus onto Christmas cactus, if the maintenance temperature is low after grafting, or the indoor air humidity is poor, it is best to cover the plant with a plastic bag to keep it warm and moist. The plastic bag should be propped up with wooden sticks, and the bottom should be exposed for ventilation. Remove the bag after a week.

4. Survival and maintenance

If the stems and leaves of the Christmas cactus are stiff and not wilted within half a month after the cactus is grafted onto the Christmas cactus, it means that the grafting has been successful and the plant can be moved to an environment with sufficient scattered light to get some sunlight, and fertilizer and water can be applied to promote the growth and flowering of the plant.

5. Note

When grafting Christmas cactus onto cactus, as the plant grows, you should promptly set up a support to prevent the Christmas cactus from growing too vigorously and falling too severely. Usually, you should ventilate the room more frequently to prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.
